2010 Firefighters Memorial Ride Scholarship Program

Eligibility: Any family member of a Firefighter or EMS worker employed by a municipality, whether it is full time or volunteer. The county’s in which the family must be a resident includes Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Lorain, Medina and Summit County. The student must be accepted or enrolled as a full time student with an accredited college or university.

 

The Firefighters Memorial Ride shall provide a maximum of ten $1000 scholarships, made payable to the College or University of the ten chosen finalist’s. In the event the selection committee does not select ten finalists, the remaining funds shall be allocated to next year’s scholarship fund.

 

The students must qualify for the Scholarships by meeting certain academic standards and submitting all information prior to April 1, 2010. The finalists will be announced at the Firefighters Memorial Ride Ceremony on May 30, 2010. The finalist selection committee shall consist of Mr. Kikol and two other independent members from the education profession.

  1. Student information: Name; Address; High School or College/University; birth date; parent’s name, municipality in which employed and email contact address.
  2. Academic Record: (include school transcript of grades)
    1. Class Rank
    2. Cumulative Grade Point Average
  3. School Activities (such as athletics, academic clubs, music groups)
  4. Outside Activities (Not related to High School / College / University , such as church, music, private athletics)
  5. Employment History (including employer and phone, dates of employment and average hours worked weekly)
  6. Service/Community Activities (Describe service, dates and contacts)
  7. Recognition/Awards and Honors (include both school and outside)
  8. Essay indicating why you deserve a Scholarship (300 words or less)
  9. School Counselor Endorsement
